Star of Hope Baptist Church stands as a beacon of faith in Nacogdoches Texas. We are a place of prayer, peace and joy to all who join us. Our community is richly diverse, with people of different ages and backgrounds coming together to worship and serve together. We welcome all individuals seeking God’s love and our doors are open to every soul seeking to welcome Jesus into their heart.

Memorial Tribute
When God calls us for His service, it is very important and life changing when we answer the call. Many lives are affected both positively and negatively if the call is answered or if the call is ignored. Pastor Eligha Walker Jr. answered the call of God some 40 years ago. God gave Pastor Walker the vision to lead the charge in the formation of the Star of Hope Baptist Church of Nacogdoches, TX. The journey was not an easy one, but his faith and trust in God’s calling helped Pastor Walker to stay the course. Services began in different homes of the small, but yet motivated congregation. Eventually, services were held temporarily in the recreation center located in down town Nacogdoches.
Pastor Walker reached out to other churches during this journey, but to no avail he was to continue without their assistance. Yet, while on this journey he would continue to be confronted with one road block after another. Hearing God’s Words and direction he was faithful in believing God would provide. Pastor Walker knew and understood the faithfulness of God and God revealed to him where the Star of Hope Baptist Church would be located. Pastor Walker was able to purchase a sizable piece of property located at 2305 Looneyville Road Nacogdoches TX. This property was underdeveloped, but with the help of his family members and those who desired to be key members in the church, worked the property and cleared it for the church to be placed.
After preparation was made, Star of Hope Baptist Church was born. The church building was delivered and renovations were made which enabled Star of Hope Baptist Church to have its first official church service on October 30, 1983. Pastor Walker led the worship services from 1983 until God called him home on September 2, 2009. His faithfulness and obedience to God’s call provided a place of worship where many have since come into the knowledge and understanding of Jesus Christ. Many have given their lives to God and turned from the ways of the world.
Pastor Walker left his legacy with the Star of Hope Baptist Church, and it is the desire of the church to continue picking up the Blood Stained Banner that was laid down on September 2, 2009 when God called him home. The members of the Star of Hope Baptist Church are eternally grateful and thankful to God for giving Pastor Walker the vision to form the church. As a result of this vision many are still able worship in this spirit filled environment which is warm, friendly, family oriented, and a place where sound doctrine is continually being preached.
